The Kingdom of God is like... What a great time the over-50s (and a couple of others who sneaked in) had today together eating lovely food – including scones with jam and cream (which way round do you put them on?) and playing bingo for prizes. Thanks to Mo for organising, Simon for calling those all-important numbers – two little ducks included, and Anthony for the jokes.
This week's women's group session at Positive Steps involved using up old duvets to make these masterpieces. It was a taster session called 'Duvet Knee Warmers'. All of the stitching was done by hand with duvets and fabric from items such as curtains and clothes. So next time you are thinking about throwing out a duvet, think again! Last Sunday was our AGM - Annual General Meeting. This might sound boring, but at Brunswick we use this as an occasion to celebrate as we look back over the previous year with thankfulness at all God has done for and in and through us, and to commit ourselves afresh for the year to come. To get an idea of what we mean, you can download and read our Annual Reports booklet here. Our women's group hosted a pamper session shared with women from WAST Manchester and the Lab Project. Pampering c/o students from Manchester College. Thank you. The group meets every Monday morning at Positive Steps – new members always welcome. Our Women's Footprints group made aprons from material ends and tea towels. Our youngest member models one she made with mummy. The group meets every Monday morning – new members always welcome. Easter 2023 Services at Brunswick Church:
Did you know that this week members of Brunswick have taken children from Medlock School through ‘Experience Easter’? We have run this - and ‘Experience Christmas’ - for the last few years. 'Experience Easter' is a series of reflective workshops, specially developed for 7 to 11-year-olds in year 5 to access the Easter Story in a meaningful way. This same group of pupils also participated in 'Experience Christmas' just under 3.5 years ago when in year 2.
Here's our experienced team... Lots of fun for all at our Eco Tea last Saturday. Planting, bird-box-making, good company and of course... cake! This week our Women's Footprints group did a 'decopatch' session. They cut up small squares of thin paper and glued them to decorate a wooden box. Pretty gorgeous results as you can see in the photos. We have learned a great new skill and are happy to share it with others. I think it's important also to say how much talk was generated from a group of women sitting around a table... amazing! Women's Footprints meets every Monday morning at Positive Steps, Brunswick Church. All women are welcome. |
